Life’s waters flow from darkness. Search the darkness, don’t run from it.

How do I make an appointment?

You can call or text (347) 352-1450 or email me at ECassadyMFT@gmail.com to schedule an appointment.  You can also click on the Message Me button at the bottom of this page.

Do you see people in person, or do you only offer online counseling?

At this time, I offer online counseling via video chat.

What is online counseling or telemental health?

It’s where you can “see” a therapist through audio and video over the Internet from your laptop, desktop, tablet, or smartphone (IOS or Android) from the comfort of your own home.

Telehealth allows us to connect anywhere with secure and convenient appointments that save you time and hassle. There’s no need to deal with traffic when you can schedule and attend your appointments directly from a laptop or mobile device.

What equipment do I need?

To participate in Telehealth appointments from your home, you will need one of the following devices:

  1. Desktop computer with a webcam and speakers
  2. Laptop computer with built-in webcam and speakers
  3. Tablet device with built-in webcam and speakers
  4. Smartphone

You will also need an Internet connection that is at least 10mbps. For optimal results, a reliable, high-speed Internet connection with a bandwidth of at least 10 mbps will minimize connection issues and provide the best quality.  Ethernet works more reliably than a Wifi connection, and if you are on your phone, your network connection will be more reliable than Wifi as well.

What is Simple Practice?

SimplePractice, LLC is my practice management software for scheduling, case management, telehealth, and therapy notes. SimplePractice, LLC, uses a HIPAA-compliant software, so your information will be securely kept.

Is Telemental health private?

Telemental sessions are private and confidential, just as face-to-face therapist appointments are. No session will ever be recorded or stored in any way.

Can I wear pajamas during our session?

Yes, absolutely you can! You’ll be at home or some other space that is your own. I want you to feel comfortable. so please wear whatever you would like.

Do you only work with couples, trauma, and grief and loss?

I do, and have worked with a variety of clients on whatever may bring them in.  Couples, trauma, and grief and loss are merely my areas of focus, or what I do more often. I do also see individual adults and teens.

It is important that we are a good fit. I do offer a free 20-minute consultation where we can both ask questions to get a sense of fit.  If we are not a good fit, I can refer to someone whom I think would be a better fit if needed.

How long do sessions last?

Sessions are typically 50 minutes. You are welcome to schedule longer sessions if you wish.

What is your cancellation policy?

The policy is, and I appreciate, advance notice of 24 hours for cancellation to avoid being charged for the session. Of course, life happens. If there are unforeseen circumstances that prevent advance notice, I will evaluate on a case-by-case basis.

What is your fee?

Sessions are $150 per 50-minute individual session, and $175 per 50-minute couples session.

Do you take insurance?

I do not take insurance. I would be considered out of network for all providers. I can provide a Superbill upon request, which you can then submit to your insurance for reimbursement.

How do I pay?

During the initial intake appointment, a card will be put into your file and charged at the end of each session.

What is the No Surprises Act, and how does it affect me?

The No Surprises Act is a bill that passed in late 2020 that went into effect in January of 2022.  It is meant to protect people from surprise medical bills, including those from mental health professionals.  The notice below, is to notify you, the consumer, of your rights.  This applies to everyone who has insurance but does not choose to go in-network.  I do not take insurance and am out of network for all insurances.  So, if you have insurance, and you see me, this applies to you whether or not you try to be reimbursed by your insurance.  This also applies to you if you do not have insurance.

My fees are stated on my website and are explicitly discussed in our consultation. I am open and honest about my fees, and there should be no surprises.  However, the No Surprises Act requires a separate notice and form.  The notice is below.  The form, or the Good Faith Estimate, is sent separately to each client and is updated every 12 months, or when there is a change in fee.
